Install the bhapi extension

The bhapi extension detects AI use on a device and enforces the blocking rules your group set. How a device gets it depends on who manages that device.

School-managed device

Nobody downloads anything. The school's IT administrator installs bhapi centrally from the Google Admin console, so the extension appears on every managed device on its own — and students cannot remove it.

  1. 1The IT administrator force-installs bhapi for the students' organisational unit in Google Admin (Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions → Users & browsers).
  2. 2Sign in to the managed Chromebook or Chrome profile. The bhapi icon appears in the toolbar by itself, usually within a few minutes.
  3. 3Generate a setup code below for this student, open the bhapi icon and type the code once. That links the device to their account.
  4. 4Done. The school's policy — which AI platforms are monitored and the school-hours window — arrives automatically from Google Admin.

What the school can pre-configure

Through Google Admin the school pins its name, the list of monitored AI platforms and the school-hours window, and students cannot change them. What the policy cannot do is replace the setup code: linking a device to a specific student always needs one single-use code.

Are you the IT administrator?

Write to contactus@bhapi.io for the deployment runbook: it has the extension ID, the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy JSON and the managed-policy schema to paste into the Google Admin console.

Setup code

Generate a setup code here, then enter it in the browser extension to connect a device.
